Why it matters
A design can be attractive and still make the category's expected job difficult. FixWeb identifies where a site's first viewport and information paths align with or miss conventions that help visitors browse, evaluate, and convert.
How it works
The crawl records primary buttons and forms, competing CTA counts, category and navigation paths, and visible trust copy. Screenshot and model review judge rendered hierarchy, density, merchandising, and trust cues against competitor snapshots when available. Sticky CTA behavior and exact above-the-fold geometry are not observable from the passive crawl. It reports recurring cross-site patterns as Pattern present, Mixed, or Gap rather than issuing an unsupported aesthetic verdict.
Site impact
Burying the primary task increases friction; missing category paths makes a deep offering look thin; absent pricing or trust cues can delay confidence. The comparison is only as strong as the competitor snapshots. Without those snapshots, field-level verdicts are not assessable and the target is checked only against known vertical conventions.
How to improve
Lead with the visitor's primary job and subordinate competing CTAs. Serve both browse and know-what-I-want paths with search and useful category, brand, attribute, or location entry points. Match the vertical's expected depth without copying it, surface credible reviews, pricing, availability, and guarantees, and keep the brand register consistent with the audience and category.
